Moralbox was co-founded in 2013 by CEO Gordon MacPherson with a clear mission: to end the chaos of training and compliance management in high-risk industries. What began as one man’s frustration with fragmented, inefficient systems has evolved into a unified workforce intelligence platform that’s transforming how skills, training, and workforce development are managed across sectors and borders.
The Problem That Sparked Our Mission
Gordon’s path to Moralbox was unexpected. With a background in molecular biology and forensic science, he moved into health and safety consultancy in 2006. While conducting on-site audits and accident investigations, he uncovered a widespread issue: organisations were relying on disconnected spreadsheets, missing critical training renewals, and facing compliance failures that put both lives and operations at risk.
Skills were invisible. Development was reactive. Employers had no effective way to plan or track progress using structured tools like a training matrix or skills matrix. Even in sectors where lives depended on it, systems designed to protect people were falling short. Gordon made it his mission to fix this problem—not just for one company or one industry, but globally.

From One Tool to a Global Workforce Intelligence Ecosystem
We began with Workforce Manager, a platform created to eliminate training gaps and reduce injuries caused by poor oversight. It helped employers move beyond spreadsheets to a live training matrix, where expiring certificates and missing competencies could be tracked in real time. As adoption spread across sectors and countries, it became clear that one tool wasn’t enough. Solving the deeper challenge required a connected workforce intelligence platform that could unify skills, training, and development at scale. Real transformation needed a connected system where training and skills data could move freely between workers, employers, and educators, powered by a dynamic skills matrix that evolves over time.

CourseBot instantly connects employers, workers, and training providers. It recommends the right training at the right time, then feeds verified completions directly into each worker’s WorkPass, automatically updating training matrices.
The AI Revolution
MoralboxAI
We’re actively developing MoralboxAI, an intelligent layer that will operate across the entire ecosystem. Once complete, it will learn from every interaction and outcome—going beyond tracking to anticipate future training needs, highlight emerging gaps, and recommend personalised development paths in real time.
Though still in development, MoralboxAI is designed to create powerful network effects that increase value for every user over time.

From our roots in Sunderland, we now support customers across 14 industries, 5 countries, and 4 continents. In 2024 alone, we grew by 61 percent. We retain over 95 percent of our customers, with contract lengths ranging from 1 to 5 years.

The name “Moralbox” was born from health and safety—and reflects our core purpose: protecting workers in high-risk industries to save lives. The legal and financial drivers for compliance are clear, but our deeper reason for existing is moral: to protect people.
